Futuristc Standing Motorcycle Concept Design
A college student has come up with the concept for a motorcycle that is upright and you wear as sort of an exoskeleton. It's so freaking cool!! I can't wait to see it move from concept to reality. Check out the video to see an animation of it in action.
The transportation program at the Art Center College of Design has produced legendary car designers, including BMW chief of design Chris Bangle and Henrik Fisker, the creator of the Fisker Karma electric supercar. But this year, after professor Bumsuk Lim’s inaugural motorcycle-design class, the buzz is all about bikes, especially Jake Loniak’s exoskeleton motorcycle concept Deus Ex Machina.

Here it leans forward like the motorcycle in Tron.

I believe a student from Art Center in Pasadena designed it.
This design really looks cool. However, there are a few things about it that would concern me if the concept was to be turned into reality.
1. How do you keep out the elements?
2. Can you use it in rough terrain?
3. Will buyers have to pass a certain physical test in order to get one of these? (Endurance, stamina, weight, etc)
4. How long is it safe to ride one without causing serious muscle pain? (The posture looks really uncomfortable.)
5. What kind of insurance do you need in order to own one?
6. Is there a compartment for extra clothing or do you have to keep your 'riding gear' on even after you reach your destination?
Don't get me wrong. I think the idea is quite interesting. i just have some reservations.
Reminds me of a Busou Shinki action figure I bought in Japan earlier this year. I have a picture of what I'm talking about posted here > http://tinyurl.com/67mwoj
Blue makes a good point. What happens if there's some trash in the road? Right in the face! Ouch!
So, roadkill now becomes facekill!? OUCH!
It certainly looks cool, but how does it turn. It showed that motion very briefly and it looked as if it turned near the "axle" of the front wheels, but it doesn't appear to be capable of that movement.
I think its time I have my mid-life crisis so I can get one! hehehe

This was freakin awesome when it showed up in the latest Popular Science Magazine. one thing though, what happens if your buckle becomes undone while at full speed?
