Slogan, you really should use one.

When I visit a site for the very first time, at first I just wanna know what does that company do. Making your visitor look for what your site is meant for, what it sells ou what kind of service you pay is a great step to make him go away before you can even blink once.

And that's why you should use slogans, short frases, that explain the main purpose of your site or even instigate the visitor to get to know more about it.

Here we'll show you some slogan use references in sites headers. Strong frases, big fonts, straight to the visitors' eyes and some time with some kind of humor. Isn't it good to find something before you even think of looking for it?

A true sentiment but to be honest it is the recent burst in use of prebuilds like drupal and wordpress that has instigated this technique because they force the user to apply a caption.

I think it is a good idea. I would also like to see Footers being used for more varied content.

The first thing i look in a website is the design. first the design and then everything else, if the design sucks i just live the site in a blink of an eye.

And those examples above represent one of the most beautiful web sites i ever seen...

Ohh, and they also have great slogans too, but that is secondary...

Great article

Nice collection!
Its true! How many times do you remember a slogan from a well delivered advert and find yourself singing it?

Excellent point and great examples.

Yet it's funny how so many established sites assume you know why they're there, like Google, Apple, Amazon etc.

Makes me wonder what does indeed separate them from the rest (how IS Google different than Yahoo, or Amazon different that buy.com?)...

I agree 100%, we were discussing this last week about users who scan text and large headlines are something I'm trying to build into my new business site design as we speak.

It amazing how long the art of H tag hierarchy design have been around but so many people don't use it to their advantage.

I was just talking to my girlfriend about this yerstarday. I love it when I visit a new website and there is somekind of guiding text, informing you about what the website is. I'll surely keep in mind to use a slogan like these when managing a website. Thanks Fabiano!
