Web Design: Illustration
Following our series of web design posts, I was thinking about a nice web element that many sites have and that we've featured a lot here at Abduzeedo: illustration! We've seen a lot of it here, interviewed the artists, but never really talked about it inside web design.
Well, right now I won't talk, but show you many sites that use illustrated elements in their design. It's really great how they turn out to be... the results are pretty sweet! I hope you all enjoy my selection! Cheers. ;)
PS.: We didn't forget about that texture giveaway! Chill out, people! We'll talk about it this week.
Update: If you guys know more illustrated sites, just leave a comment and we'll add the coolest ones to the list asp. Thanks!

Thanks a lot for the link back (Airborne and Dreaming) - I'm so very honoured! You should see my visitors stats, it's like a friggin' mount everest couple of days in the middle of the august stats:)
David: Thanks - yours ain't bad either:)
How about Studio Racket (http://www.studioracket.org)
I love the list, great resource for me as I plan to add some illustration elements to my personal website @ http://www.puredezigner.com. Thanks again for the list!
Thank's for being featured. ( www.k4lab.info )
Cheers
These sites really are amazing.
A great collection of sites! Keep it up! I love seeing what other designers are doing.
@James Deering - 1. I have used SVG, and after 5 years, it still isn't used all that much and support for it is still rather sketchy (your example didn't work all that well for me); 2. Art is subjective: I like many of the styles used in the posted examples. Some remind me of the underground art styles used today (check out http://www.hifructose.com/) -- just because you don't think it's "fine art" doesn't mean it isn't to someone else.
Hey all! I'm Rob, the dude behind Rawkes.
It's so nice to see my site up here with some of the best. Thank you so much for deeming it worthy.
It all seems so cartoony. If any of you take the time to learn SVG then you can do real classy illustrations like mine that are super small file sizes and designed for 1080p display. Fine art always beats cartoons.

Yeah, Web Designer Wall (http://www.webdesignerwall.com/) is certainly a good illustrated one.
Also, FKMAgency.com use b/w flash illustrations for their site.
I'm looking for some custom illustration work (i want a cool cartoon looking rhino to use on my website). I'm willing to pay $$$ to someone who can do it. Shoot me an email (destonesucks@gmail.com) ...
Thanks for featuring my site!
Wow dude, this topic got you on digg.com

Rawkes.com looks very good
Hi,
"Navigant" is beautiful.
Look at mine which is less pretty, but animated and playable ;)

Great article. Alot of these look like they could have been made using MS's new web design tools. All of them look great though.

Nothing new. First one I saw was TimeforCake ( http://www.timeforcake.com/ ), and Erin's had her site up for over a year.
another illustrated site

Thanks for the post :)
hey, thought i'd share one i did. i'm not such an illustrator but for this website i thought i'd have some fun so i went to an art store and bought crayons and chalk. then i took photos of the scribbles, put everything together in photoshop, did some animating in flash, code some css/html and bam: http://www.karenskidspreschool.com
if someone doesn't have flash installed then the header gracefully degrades to a still image and html menu.
This is a pretty cool illustrated site too.
Here's another great suggestion for you. This one is beautifully illustrated, AND animated in JavaScript (not Flash). Very impressed:

I recently redesigned my gallery site (http://thecreativeraven.arbent.net) using illustration.
Definitly one of the best series I have seen in a while! Outstanding illustrations and designs!
Nice Series!

I work for a web design company and I think this work is beautiful! I think graphics is a talent that is hard to come by. Having an eye like that is a gift. Beautiful work!!!
www.FlashKing.com is a totally hand illustrated site. One of my favorite features is that the background changes according to what time of day it is.
Thanks for the post!
Wow, it is a real honor to be featured here (We Are not Freelancers), Thank you for the mention Abduzeedo!
