SAGA is a new creative studio working across CG design and animation, launching with a manifesto film that explores the relationship between material, movement, and image-making.

Founded by Ashley Monaghan (ex Hornet) and Joey Recoskie (ex Tendril), the studio is built around a small, focused team working closely from concept to final frame. The approach is intentionally direct, removing distance between idea and execution so the work can remain considered at every stage.

The launch film, SAGA — Manifesto, moves through a series of tactile and cinematic explorations across product, automotive, and fashion — fluid surfaces, shifting light, soft tension, and sculptural motion. The piece acts less as a traditional portfolio and more as a statement of intent: an exploration of how digital objects can feel physical, emotional, and alive.

“We wanted the launch film to function more like a creative statement than a portfolio piece. It was important for it to signal the level of care, curiosity, and craft we want to bring into the world through SAGA,” says Joey Recoskie. “It became an opportunity to define a thoughtful visual language for the studio through material, motion, atmosphere, and form, while also weaving the SAGA brand directly into the work itself. By using the identity as an anchor throughout the film, we were able to introduce the brand in motion as something living, evolving, and emotionally expressive rather than separate from the creative.”

As a growing wave of smaller design-led studios continues to reshape the industry, SAGA positions itself around a more focused and collaborative way of working, staying close to the work and close to the people making it.
