Replit Canvas: A Spatial UI Design Tool
Replit Canvas is a new infinite ui design tool: live app previews, freehand annotations, and Agent-generated design variants on one shared spatial board.
As a ui design tool, Canvas runs on an unbounded board where each app frame is a live browser instance, not a screenshot — interactive at mobile 390×844, tablet 768×1024, or desktop 1280×720. Freehand strokes, shape overlays, and sticky notes stack directly on top of those frames as first-class objects. Replit’s Agent generates multiple design variants side by side on the same canvas; picking one writes the change back to the live codebase in a single action. Exports come out as fully editable PPTX, Google Slides, or PDF — component-level vector output, not a flattened image.
One Board, Every Phase of UI Design Tool Work
Canvas replaced Replit’s older Design Mode with the Agent 4 release, making it a ui design tool that collapses the gap between prototyping and shipping. The running app and the annotation layer share the same space — decisions happen against real pixels, not a representation of them. That compression of fidelity is the actual design idea: a ui design tool where the output and the process are the same object.
